Amazing

My great-grandmother crocheted this apron and these doilies.  They are just a sample, there are many more.  She never learned to read, so the work was all done from memory.  My grandmother told me that at that time the women would have knitting and crocheting socials.  They taught one another patterns.  The stiches are intricate, the patterns are unique.  Truly amazing work.

  1. OH! I'm loving those! What exquisite work, she had a true gift. I learned to knit only one stitch (can't even purl), and I've made lots of scarves and blankets with that one stich, sure which I could crochet something as beautiful as these. I also wish we could have those types of socials now, I'd gladly meet you for some tea and learning to advance my skill...I believe I was born at the wrong time!

  2. I wish I would have inherited her talent! I have to work hard to keep track of where I am if I am doing anything more than a simple pattern.
